Dr. Kuo will use an ultrasonic scaler to remove plaque and tartar around your gum line as well as between your teeth. Followed by polishing to remove staining and smooth out your teeth. Schedule your exam and cleaning to learn how you can stay healthy year-round.
Scaling and Root Planing
Scaling and root planing is a deep cleaning below the gum line to treat gum disease. Gum disease is caused by a sticky film of bacteria called plaque. If plaque isn't cleaned well, the bacteria in plaque can cause your gums to become inflamed. When this happens, your gums will pull away from your teeth and form spaces called pockets. Plaque then gets trapped in these pockets and cannot be removed with regular brushing. If untreated, gum disease could lead to bone and eventually tooth loss. If the pockets between your gums and teeth are too deep, however, scaling and root planing may be needed.
Teeth Whitening
After cleaning your teeth, we can complete a bleaching procedure in time for a special event or as part of your regular oral health routine. An in-office, professional teeth whitening is the fastest and most efficient whitening treatment option. Our professional teeth whitening agent is more concentrated than over-the-counter options. We also offer additional home whitening for you to maintain your pearly whites long-term. Your teeth can become visibly whiter and brighter from just one visit!
Tooth Extraction
Dr. Brian Kuo and staff value providing patients a comfortable and stress-free experience, we make sure you experience as little pain as possible. Dr. Kuo often extract wisdom teeth as most people's jaws don't have enough room for their wisdom teeth, causing an impacted wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth impacted below the gum line may cause pain, swelling and crowd or forcibly move other teeth. The American Dental Association recommends that people between 16 and 19 have their wisdom teeth evaluated to see if they need to be removed because then the wisdom teeth have less developed roots and fewer complications.
Dental Restorations
Dr. Brian Kuo is professional at completing restorations in a way that restores the functionality of a tooth while also looking completely natural. This is important for ensuring that once the dental work is complete, no one can tell your tooth was ever damaged. A composite resin filling is made from a mixture of plastic and fine glass particles and matches the color of the tooth. Thus, composite fillings are used most often on front teeth or the visible parts of the tooth. Composite fillings bond directly to the tooth, reducing the drilling needed (like for a amalgam filling) and they are stronger than amalgam fillings.
Implants
Dental implants are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth. Beyond looking and feeling like a normal tooth, a dental implant also makes it easier to eat and speak, because a titanium post secured directly in the jaw holds the implant in place. At Brian Y. Kuo DDS, we carefully examine your bone structure with our dental cone beam CT to measure your bone volume to make sure we place your implant perfectly. If you have missing teeth, wear dentures that are uncomfortable or don't want to have good tooth structure removed to make a bridge, ask Dr. Brian Kuo if implants are a good option for you.
Invisalign
Instead of traditional braces that are permanently fixed to the teeth, each Invisalign aligner is individually designed and manufactured with your exact teeth measurements to gradually shift your teeth into place. Your aligners will be customized to fit only your teeth, making the process tailored to your needs. Unlike traditional braces, your aligner will fit smoothly into your mouth and won’t irritate your gums or cheeks. Dr. Brian Kuo will continually follow up with you to make sure your teeth are being aligned properly, you will see results even before your Invisalign treatment is completed. Dr. Kuo is very experienced with this revolutionary procedure. With his help, you can devise a plan that will result in the smile you have always wanted!
Silver Diamine Fluoride
Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a liquid medication used to slow down or stop dental decay. SDF helps kill the bacteria that break down tooth surfaces while also keeping them from spreading to other teeth. SDF is a more comfortable alternative to drilling cavities since it is applied only topically directly on the surface of your teeth. The silver in SDF will oxidize and leave a black stain on the decayed portion of the tooth (it does not stain healthy enamel). It may also temporarily stain gums and tissue in the mouth, which will fade away in a few days to a couple of weeks.
Root Canal Therapy
At Brian Y. Kuo DDS, we regularly perform a root canal endodontic treatment in order to remove infections and save our patients’ teeth. Dr. Brian Y. Kuo is skillful at completing the procedure and doing so while keeping patients completely comfortable. Root canal is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it. The procedure involves removing the damaged pulp inside the tooth and cleaning the tooth, then filling and sealing it. If you are experiencing mild to severe tooth pain or sensitivity or tender and swollen gums near the tooth, please schedule an appointment to have your tooth checked by Dr. Brian Kuo.
Dentures
Dentures are a common and trusted solution for replacing missing teeth. At Brian Y. Kuo DDS our patients frequently ask about dentures to determine if they are a good solution for their particular needs. Dentures are custom-made replacements for missing teeth and can be taken out and put back into your mouth. It does take some getting used to, and will never feel exactly the same as natural teeth. However, today's dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever. If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment and Dr. Kuo can advise you on what your best options are.
Dental Crowns and Bridges
Bridges and crowns are fixed prosthetic devices that are attached onto existing damaged teeth or implants. Crowns are used to restore a fractured tooth, protect a tooth from fracturing, replace a large filling that'g too big, protect a root canal treated tooth. Bridges are used when there are one or more missing teeth to prevent teeth from shifting and maintain a comfortable bite. Dr. Brian Kuo will work with you closely to make sure you are satisfied with the look and feel of your smile.
